Artistic LIghting Workshop for March 9, 2026
Artistic Lighting Workshop on March 9, 2026
An artistic lighting for dancers will be held on Monday, March 9, at the RMP studio. Ron McKinney will lead the workshop with a morning full of education on lighting and posing dancers, and how to work with them to get the very best out of them. Some of the topics could include using silk fabric, shooting with fog, and capturing the peak moment of a leap from the appropriate angle, and how to shoot whether you have one light or five lights. We will also go over headshots.
The workshop will go from 10 am to 5 pm. The location is 800 McArdle Drive, Crystal Lake IL. When you pull into our parking lot, we are down at the end of the building. Lunch will be provided.
The idea is to provide you with the skills to shoot artistic lighting images with whatever lighting gear you currently have. You will want to bring your camera for the part where you take pictures. However, if you are flying in and would rather not bring your camera gear, I will have a Nikon Z9 here that you can use.
The afternoon will be spent with each of the attendees taking turns conducting their own shoots with a dancer. Either Ron or a dancer will be on hand to assist on the shoot.
We are limiting registration to 8 attendees, and we are almost full as of Feb. 11. Price is $395. If you have a second person from your photography studio, their price is just $295. A third person is $195.
