I can’t tell you how many times parents have told me that their child told them that once they got in the car after a rain or color powder session. Not a couple of times, not five or six, but dozens of times.
The rain machine experience is like no other. The combination of water spraying in multiple directions coupled with edgy lighting creates exciting photographic opportunities for dancers, cheerleaders, gymnasts, musicians and athletes. The water in the pool is about three inches deep, allowing you to spray water with every movement.
Our next Rain Sessions are THIS SUMMER.
We set up our Rain Machine just twice a year in our 3,250 sq foot studio. Cost for an individual session is $195 for 15 minutes and 2 JPGs (three or four poses, depending on time), or $295 for 30 minutes and 5 JPGs (and usually 6 or 7 poses). Groups (4 or more) are $175 for 2 JPGs or $275 for 5 JPGs, and it includes a free group JPG. With teams (10 or more), individuals are limited to the 2 JPG package for $145. A group shot will be done for teams if possible. With all packages, there is the option to add on JPGs once you have your gallery.
You must commit to a 5-JPG package by the day of the session. It is too late to upgrade once you see your gallery. Whichever package you go with, you can add on extra images for $72 for social media JPGs (printable to 5x7 inches) or $96 for full resolution JPGs. There is a $185 savings by upgrading to the 5-JPG package.
Dancers and athletes come to these sessions from several states away, and they fill up fast. Dancers can schedule time in groups or come in individually. It’s a fun outing for high school, college and studio dance teams. You can schedule a special individual session for your dancer or athlete or anyone wanting to play in the water, or a group of four or more can qualify for group discount rates. A group of 10 or more can qualify for our team discount. If you would like to schedule a group or team session, contact us at info@ronmckinneyphoto.com or call 224-288-3076. However, these need to be scheduled well in advance for us to block the schedule for your group or team.
Siblings may share a 5-JPG package, and I’ll include a free shot of the two of them together.

preparing for your session
For the Rain Machine portraits, please be sure you have at least one towel. Two or three can be great if you're getting multiple poses. Outfits can be any color, just not an intricate pattern. It's best to wear a solid lighter color. We suggest simple leos, booty shorts and tops, workout gear, sports uniforms or even performance outfits.
Please come prepared with ideas as to what you’d like to do. We can always help you, as this is completely different from any photo shoot you may have done before. We’ll show you the different ways to splash the water for the best effect. Study the pictures below to get a sense of what you’d like to do, and then let’s create something unique to you.
The water will be roughly room temperature, maybe just a little warmer. Everyone who has been photographed in the water has been comfortable.
Each shot will be displayed on a big-screen TV monitor so you can immediately assess the shot you just took. Wear your hair down. Makeup is optional, but if you use it, be sure it’s waterproof.
Please arrive early to give yourself time to stretch.
