Pas De Deux Photo and PhotoDay team up for Recital Portraits Workshop in chicago suburbs Nov 21-22
Rose Coleman and Ron McKinney to lead Recital Portraits Workshop
PhotoDay is teaming up with Rose Coleman and Ron McKinney to put together an outstanding two days of education on Dance Recital Portraits on Nov. 21-22 at the RMP Studio in Crystal Lake, IL. This is designed for photographers already doing multiple dance studio recital portraits who are looking to be more efficient, improve their workflow, learn how PhotoDay can help with efficiency and sales, and how to add on more dance schools. It’s also for photographers who are looking to start doing recital portraits.
We’ll break down all the logistics of running the recital portrait photoshoot, all the gear you need, all the technology you need. We will share the different ways we both run our recital portrait photo shoots.
The price for this 2-day workshop is just $575 for one person, or $862.50 for two people from the same photography studio. Lunch is included on Friday. We’re also getting block discount pricing for hotel rooms at a Holiday Inn within two miles of the workshop location.
We are limiting registration to 50 attendees, so act early to get your spot.

Artistic Lighting Workshop on Nov. 23
An artistic lighting for dancers will be held on Sunday, Nov. 23, at the RMP studio. Ron McKinney will lead the workshop with a morning full of education on lighting and posing dancers, and how to work with them to get the very best out of them. Some of the topics include using silk fabric, shooting with fog, and capturing the peak moment of a leap from the appropriate angle, and how to shoot whether you have one light or five lights.
The afternoon will be spent with each of the attendees taking turns for 5-minute shoots in each setting: black marley and background, wood flooring and background, and a color paper background (color not determined yet). Each attendee will get three 5-minute shoots with a dancer. Either Ron or a dance teacher will be on hand to assist on the shoot.
We are limiting registration to 36 attendees. Price is $395. For those also attending the recital portraits workshop, the price will just be $295.
