We began doing dance photography outdoors with dancers beginning in 2009 with dancers here in Illinois. In 2010, we were asked to photograph Houston Ballet principal dancer Melody Mennite, and have since also photographed dancers at Jacob's Pillow in Massachusetts, and others in Houston, Boston, Springfield, Chicago, and New Mexico. I've had dancers travel from as far away as New Jersey to do photo shoots with me, and many who are training in Chicago for a summer intensive or a weekend training have also set aside time to do a shoot with me either in the city or in the suburbs. We have had three art gallery shows in the USA and through an organization in England displaying my outdoors dance shots.
My dance photography has appeared multiple times in Dance Magazine, Dance Spirit Magazine, and I'm a contributor to Dance Studio Life magazine.
As a dance photographer, I offer sessions in my studio as well as outdoors. The outdoors dance photography sessions are two hours in length and we usually try to schedule these in the two hours before sunset. The session fee for these outdoor sessions are $125. If there are any parking fees or permit fees, the client does need to take care of these as well. While we are a photography studio based in Algonquin, we do consider ourselves a Chicago dance photographer who does sessions all over Chicagoland.
Our dance clients include Ballet Chicago, Summers Academy of Dance in Crystal Lake, Dynamic Perception Dance Company in Westmont, Dance and All That Jazz in Prospect Heights, the DePaul University Dance and Cheer Teams, Ballet Box in Algonquin, Center Stage in Huntley, Algonquin Academy of Dance, Artistry Dance Company in Carpentersville.
